Mining Operations

Seven mineral streams worked on licensed ground — extracted, processed, hauled and exported through licensed channels. Everything below is a photograph or a video from our own sites.

Mineral Stream

Bauxite Mining and Hauling

Extraction, stockpiling and haulage of bauxite ore through to vessel loading for export.

Bauxite is the aluminium ore that feeds smelters worldwide, and West Africa holds some of the largest reserves on the continent. Blue-Ray runs the full chain on its bauxite operations: excavation at the face, stockpile management, haulage by our own tipper fleet, and loading onto bulk carriers for shipment.

Gold Mining and Trading

Alluvial gold recovery, on-site assay and weighing, and export to licensed buyers.

Blue-Ray works licensed alluvial gold concessions across the Sierra Leone greenstone belt. Recovered gold is washed, concentrated, weighed and recorded on site before it moves through licensed export channels. Every parcel is documented from pit to buyer.

Diamonds Mining and Trading

Alluvial rough diamond recovery, sorting and parcelling for licensed export.

Sierra Leone is one of the world's premier sources of alluvial rough diamonds. Blue-Ray recovers, sorts and parcels rough stones, recording carat weights at the point of sorting. Stones move only through licensed, Kimberley-compliant channels to vetted international buyers.

Mineral Stream

High Mineral Concentrations (HMC)

Gravity separation of heavy mineral sands into saleable concentrate.

Heavy mineral concentrate — the rutile, ilmenite and zircon fraction of mineral sands — is separated on site using spiral concentrator banks. Feed is pumped from the working face, run through the spirals, and the concentrate is stockpiled for onward sale. This is the most capital-intensive part of our mining operation and the clearest proof of processing capability.

Mineral Stream

Sand Mining and Trading

River and pit sand extraction, washing and supply to construction projects.

Construction sand is the quiet backbone of every road, bridge and building programme in the country. Blue-Ray extracts, washes and stockpiles river and pit sand, supplying our own construction projects and selling graded sand to third-party contractors.

Hauling Bauxite, Granite and Sand Minerals

Tipper fleet moving bauxite, granite and sand between pit, plant and port.

Mining is only as good as the haulage behind it. Blue-Ray runs and contracts a fleet of heavy tipper trucks that move bauxite, crushed granite and sand from the working face to the processing plant, the stockpile and the port. The same fleet carries aggregate to our construction sites.

Coltan

Columbite-tantalite recovery and concentration — the tantalum feedstock for electronics.

Coltan is the ore behind tantalum capacitors, and demand tracks global electronics manufacturing. Blue-Ray recovers and concentrates coltan from licensed ground, hand-sorting ore and washing concentrate to grade before sale.

How we work, and why that matters

Mineral wealth only benefits the country it comes from when it is extracted under licence, processed locally where possible, and exported through channels that can be audited. Blue-Ray works with the National Minerals Agency, the Environment Protection Agency Sierra Leone (EPA-SL), local chiefdoms and host communities. We export only through licensed channels and only to vetted buyers.

Our mining operations are backed by the same partners and financiers as the rest of the company — PRAETORIAN Global Group (Sweden), FIRST International Bank Nigeria (SL) Ltd. and IDEFENZ Company Limited (Malaysia) — covering financing, technical capacity and offtake agreements.
